Profile
Eight years of keeping a promise to Nigerian families
Mrs. Azumara Betsy is the founder and director of Lady B's Food Contribution. A businesswoman with a background in trade and community organising, she built the scheme after watching families around her borrow at high cost every December just to put food on the table.
She personally oversees supplier negotiations, quality checks and the December distribution schedule. Members know her for insisting that every contribution is receipted the same day it is received, and that nothing leaves the store unless she would serve it in her own home.
Under her leadership the scheme has grown from a neighbourhood circle into a structured business with tiered packages, digital payment records and distribution centres serving over a thousand households.
“No woman should have to beg for rice in December. If we plan together from January, we celebrate together in December.”
